UNCERTAIN GERMANIC TRIBES, Pseudo-Imperial coinage. Late 3rd-early 4th centuries. 'Quinarius' (Gold, 15 mm, 3.21 g, 12 h), 'Gordian Group'. Imitating Elagabalus, 218-222. ANTONINVS A Laureate and draped bust of Elagabalus to left. Rev. COS III Mercury standing front, head to left, holding purse in his right hand and caduceus in his left. Aurum Barbarorum II, 1873 var. (same reverse die, but differing obverse legend). A lovely piece of attractive style. Original suspension loop attached. Minor scrapes on the obverse, otherwise, good very fine.
